In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler lands in a high-profile job she’s not suited for, with tectonic effects on her marriage and political future. Producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the fledgling American Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London next to Buckingham Palace, producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
Keri Russell’s performance here is nothing short of a revelation
Her portrayal of career American diplomat Kate Wyler is a fascinating mix of strength, humor, intelligence, vulnerability and, oh my, sexiness. The Diplomat deftly caricatures the realm of international diplomacy and its denizens.
All Netflix has to do now is announce Season 2 and let Ms
And while the world has yet to descend into plot chicanery, the wonderfully talented, diverse cast makes it easy to believe that most governments are overrun by people who never emotionally got out of middle school. This series looks good, sounds good, feels good – it’s incredibly entertaining and intelligent adult entertainment.
