The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living by carrying out hits for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in the form of a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. I couldn’t get a job, I had no flat, I had no car and I had no savings. Then I had this crazy, crazy idea to write a novel. “Everyone said you must be joking or mad because the chances of this story being published were hundreds to one, even thousands.” Within weeks of publication, the film rights were taken away. Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars were vying for the role of the Jackal in the 1973 film, but the role went to then-unknown Edward Fox because director Fred Zinnemann thought he could pass unseen in a crowd.
The cast gives some really great performances

Lynch’s acting was pretty disappointing
Her performance came across as very one-dimensional, which unfortunately stood out against a cast full of strong, diverse portrayals. This isn’t about race—I can think of several brilliant black actresses who could have brought more depth and complexity to the role. It’s just that her performance didn’t live up to the overall quality of the show, which was disappointing. Still, the show is worth watching for its story and the unique performances of the other cast members.
