Britain rarely allows filming in the office of the foreign secretary
Narrative
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler finds herself in an unlikely high-profile job that geographically impacts her marriage and political future. Producers American & British government allowed them to use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the newest American embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Credit to any film or screen production, especially an American film.
So cerebral and engaging
One location that was unavailable was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot in London (11 acres) other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming, thinking it couldn’t get any better, and I was wrong. I loved every second of this episode.
The characters and acting were first-rate
Everything you could want in a series. How great to see the delicious Rufus Sewell again, not knowing what he would do next, what role he had. Keri Russell was a great ambassador.
I also loved David Gyasi
Perfectly played. Overall a fantastic series, maybe a little short, but worth watching. The best political show since The West Wing. Great!
