When the Pope dies, his ring (called the Fisherman’s Ring) is removed and destroyed
Narrative
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with presiding over one of the world’s most secret and ancient events, the election of a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundations of the Catholic Church. The actions that Cardinal Lawrence and the other cardinals perform during the conclave in the film are true and accurate to the Catholic faith and centuries of tradition. The Vatican officially announces that the seat of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant. The papal apartment is closed with a crimson ribbon and sealed with the papal wax seal. The College of Cardinals is housed in apartments (Domus Sanctae Marthae, Casa di Santa Marta) to eat and sleep between votes. Finally, the windows and doors of the Sistine Chapel, where the elections and votes themselves take place, are darkened, covered, and locked to maintain the secrecy of the conclave.
And therefore faith is not necessary
Ayendi is said to have been the first African pope. The Roman Catholic Church has had three African popes: Victor the First (189-199 AD), Miltiades (also known as Melchiades, 311-314 AD), and Gelasius the First (492-496 AD). Lawrence: Our faith is alive precisely because it goes hand in hand with doubt. If there were only certainty and no doubt, there would be no mystery. Let us pray that God will give us a doubting pope. And that he will give us a pope who sins and asks for forgiveness and moves on.
The film is nicely paced

Allegri: Miserere Performed by Capella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, Massimo Palombella Courtesy of Deutsche Grammophon GMBH Licensed to Universal Music Operations Ltd. Dear, there are many positive things to say about the conclave. A good script by an excellent cast. It is photographed and framed well. The design and suit design and overall color palette are visually pleasing.
it becomes absurd & pointless
The only negative aspect I could think of in the early stages of the film would be the soundtrack. This style of scoring (in my humble opinion) was never great to begin with, but at this point it is tired, overused and overused. Frankly, dull. There is a point where the film completely turns on its head because of the final act and the ending. A shame because up until this point it is likely & likely. In the end it leaves a bad taste in the mouth because it feels like a specific Hollywood agenda is being pushed here.
no less clever
And this review is written by someone who would have fairly liberal views in general. However, the ending of this film is a conceit and a delusion. subversive in the most enjoyable way. It is Flatfooted and Flatfooted.
